About Us
At Greenwich Cruse we take huge pride in the quality of service we provide through an entirely voluntary and unpaid team of counsellors and bereavement volunteers.
Greenwich Cruse is part of the largest national bereavement support organisation in the UK.  Our branch has served the Borough of Greenwich for many years  Cruse is a secular (non-religious) organisation originally founded as a self-help support group for widows and is now open to all bereaved people.
We have an increasing number of bereavement volunteers.  All have been carefully selected for their capacity to work with bereaved people.  A large proportion of volunteers have personal experience of bereavement.  Most are either professionally qualified counsellors or else in formal training to become one.  All bereavement volunteers undergo a specialist Cruse Bereavement Training.  Our volunteers represent a considerable cultural cross-section of the population of south-east London and include disabled and non-disabled people.  We are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework.  All people working with clients have enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks, have regular supervision and undertake ongoing training.  Supervisors are overseen by a consultant counsellor from outside Cruse.
Patients have found the service accessible, useful and have expressed their satisfaction with it.  Appointments are given at short notice.
