About Us
We have been serving Greenwich for over 25 years. We take huge pride in the quality of service we provide through an entirely voluntary and unpaid team of counsellors and bereavement volunteers led by a manager.
Greenwich Cruse is part of the largest national bereavement support organisation in the UK. Our branch has served the Borough of Greenwich for many years Cruse is a secular (non-religious) organisation originally founded as a self-help support group for widows and is now open to all bereaved people.

We have an increasing number of bereavement volunteers. All have been carefully selected for their capacity to work with bereaved people. Most volunteers have personal experience of bereavement. Aside from being fully trained Cruse volunteers, many are either professionally qualified and Accredited counsellors or else are in formal training to become one. Our volunteers represent a considerable cultural cross-section of the population of Greenwich and include disabled and non-disabled people. We are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework. All people working with clients have enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks, have regular supervision and undertake ongoing training. Supervisors are overseen by a consultant BACP Accredited Supervisor.
Patients have found the service accessible, useful and have expressed their satisfaction with it. Appointments are given at short notice.
